May 14th is the day the SU Law Class of 2016 marches through Key Arena. In doing so, the graduates take center stage in that venue following the likes of Elvis, The Beatles, Michael Jordan, Bernie Sanders and Justin Bieber. What is now KeyArena was originally built as the Washington Pavilion for the Seattle World’s Fair (“Century 21”). For decades, it was known as “The Coliseum” (first the Washington State Coliseum, then the Seattle Center Coliseum). There have been thousands of events at the venue and it was the home of the world-champion Seattle Super Sonics and the world-champion Seattle Storm. Seattle University men’s basketball team uses it as its home court but its most prestigious event this year is undoubtedly the Seattle University Law School graduation with headliner Srikanth Naidu.
