Fred T. Korematsu Center for Law and EqualityThe Korematsu Center, as co-counsel with Alaska Legal Services Corporation, has filed a lawsuit against Frontline Hospital and The Offie of Children's Services of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services to enjoin the administration of psychotropic medications to Native Alaskan foster children in non-crisis situations. The complaint alleges that the practice of subjecting children to this type of medication violates the Alaska Constitution's guarantees of liberty and privacy, and violates statutes that allow individuals to withhold or give consent to psychotropic medications.
