Researching Legal Careers

A guide to finding information on legal careers in many areas of the law

Introduction

Researching careers can be an important first step toward choosing a field. The law library offers this guide to help you research different legal careers. We have some excellent resources available, whether you're a law student, you have just passed the bar, or you are an attorney looking to move from one field to another. This guide includes books on legal careers available through the library and some excellent links to outside information on law careers. Additionally there are links to information on alternative non- legal careers available to those with JDs.

Reference librarians are available to help you research practice areas and prepare for interviews. Librarians can help you research profiles of prominent practitioners in your desired practice area and identify leading trade journals. Librarians can also help you identify individuals who can help you select appropriate courses for your desired practice area. Stop by the reference desk or email lawreference@seattleu.edu.
